The 4 star Shrigley Hall is set in 262 acres of spectacular Cheshire countryside that provide a stunning setting for this 19th century country house. An impressive lobby with large staircase and imposing chandelier great us. A beautiful restaurant with views over the grounds and a modern conservatory courtyard bar add to the luxury feel. All bedrooms are individually decorated with amenities including TV, hairdryer and tea/coffee making facilities. Comprehensive Leisure facilities include an indoor swimming pool, sauna, spa bath, steam room and gym. The hotel has a lift.
Monday From your front door to the waiting Club Class coach for our journey north. We spend time in Bakewell home of the famous pudding then on to Macclesfield and at our holiday home for the next 4 nights, we have ample time to settle in before dinner this evening.
Tuesday This morning we visit Lyme Park, the film location for ‘Pemberley’, in the BBC’s Pride and Prejudice. Lyme Park is a magnificent estate, nestling within sweeping moorland on the edge of the Peak District We discover a colourful family history during our visit. This afternoon we have free time to relax, enjoy the facilities or take a stroll in the hotel’s fabulous grounds.
Wednesday Today, we travel over the spectacular Snake Pass and along Ladybower Reservoir, the reservoir was used by the Dambusters to practice low level flying techniques. Our first visit is to Haddon Hall set in the heart of the beautiful Peak District National Park and recognised as one of the most romantic houses in Britain. The house and grounds have played host to a number of period films including “Jane Eyre”. Our lunch stop is in picturesque Bakewell then on to Buxton, capital of the High Peak, and at over 1,000ft above sea level, the highest town in England and noted for stunning scenery, magnificent architecture and its world famous spa water.
Thursday This morning we visit the World of Wedgwood, a unique visitor experience celebrating the story of Josiah Wedgwood and his lasting influence on industry, society and local infrastructure. We have the option of a factory tour to learn about all aspects of production and techniques and time in the Factory Outlet. Our afternoon is spent atTrentham Gardens. Enjoy the splendour of the contemporary Italian Garden, the Floral Labyrinth and Rivers of Grass or take a woodland walk around the lake looking out for enchanting fairies or giant dandelion sculptures.
Friday After breakfast we bid a reluctant farewell to our host at Shrigley Hall Hotel for our drive home area to be greeted by our awaiting taxis mid afternoon.
