The natural beauty of the Pembrokeshire coast and the Grower peninsula are famed all over the world. Glorious sandy beaches and seemingly endless rugged coastline give way to the Preseli Hills, historic towns and little villages. We stay in Carmarthen for our tour, ideal for visiting this delightful, corner of Wales.
Another of our favourite hotels is the 3 star rated Ivy Bush Hotel. It is within walking distance of Carmarthen town centre and was once a favourite retreat for Lord Nelson and Lady Hamilton, sympathetically modernised, the hotel retains its old world charm blended with modern day facilities. All bedrooms are en-suite and all have television, telephone, hairdryer and tea/coffee making facilities. The hotel has a lift.
Sunday We depart our home area, passing Birmingham before crossing the border into Wales, then pass Swansea to arrive at our holiday hotel, the Ivy Bush Royal Hotel. We are welcomed by our hosts and tea/coffee and Welsh cake before our time to settle in before dinner this evening.
Monday After breakfast we travel west to the popular small seaside resort of Saundersfoot, where we stay awhile with time to explore the little harbour, before we leave to take the short ride to Tenby. With the old town walls, interesting little side streets and alleyways and superb beaches, Tenby is South West Walesís main holiday resort and is always a pleasant friendly place to visit. Our return takes us via Pendine Sands and Laugharne, former home of Dylan Thomas, the Welsh poet and writer. We then return to our hotel this evening for this eveningís meal.
Tuesday After breakfast we join the coach which takes us to the beautiful unspoilt scenery of the Gower Peninsula, designated an ĎArea of outstanding natural beautyí. After time here we then re-join the coach to visit the picture postcard resort of Mumbles. View the nature reserve of the Wormís Head, and Rhossili Bay, where the 250ft cliff drops steeply to the beach below. Back at the hotel we enjoy dinner.
Wednesday Today we drive to St Brideís Bay and Newgale Sands to the magical place of St Davidís birthplace of the patron saint of Wales. St Davidís has a beautiful Cathedral, the smallest in Great Britain which is well worth a visit. From St Davidís we re-join the coach to the Preseli Mountains and then travel to our hotel with time to relax before dinner.
Thursday After breakfast we begin our journey home where we arrive to be greeted by our awaiting taxis.
