Overview

Another new themed tour for 2018 when we visit the wonderful Dolomite region of Alpine Italy. At this time of year the flowers of the lush meadows are in full bloom and the countless apple orchards are shrouded in bright blossom. We visit the Bolzano Flower Market and the Apple Blossom Festival. For over a century the Walther Square has been decorated with myriad colours and varieties of flowers. We include visits to the historic lemon gardens of Lake Garda and the enchanting valleys of the Dolomites with a tasting of local fresh apple juice at a traditional farm. This tour is a visual feast and a must for Spring lovers.

Garden Hotel Premstaller - 4 Star

The family run 4 star Garden Hotel Premstaller is surrounded by apple trees and meadows yet within easy strolling distance of the historic old town centre of Bolzano. The spacious en suite bedrooms are tastefully furnished and offer satellite TV, telephone, room safe, air conditioning, desk and hairdryer. Your Itinerary:



Day 1

Sunday Our door to door service takes you to the waiting Club Class coach for the drive to Folkestone during which a light breakfast is served. Boarding the morning train to Calais, champagne and snacks set the holiday mood. We travel through France to reach our 3 star overnight hotel in Metz area in time for dinner.


Day 2

Monday After breakfast we continue our journey, we pass into Germany before entering the mountains of Austria. The final leg of the journey takes us over the beautiful Brenner Pass crossing the border into Italy, reaching Bolzano and our 4 star holiday hotel late afternoon. On arrival there will be a welcome drink served whilst your bags are taken to your room.


Day 3

Tuesday This morning we enjoy a guided walking tour of Bolzano, the meeting point of the Germanic and Latin cultures. The time for the annual Bolzano Flower Show has arrived. For over a century, Bolzano’s main square has been transformed in to a beautiful floral sea. Wander through the colourful display of beautiful flowers, including geraniums, petunias, dianthuses and fuchsias. Live music with Bolzano’s brass bands all splendid in their traditional costumes entertain whilst a host of cafes and bars offer refreshments during the day.


Day 4

Wednesday Today we drive through the enchanting valleys of the Brenta Dolomites accompanied by a local guide to ensure maximum enjoyment. We stop at the Nardis waterfalls, whose waters cascade down 427 feet then continue to the famous ski resort of Madonna di Campiglio. Later we pass through the main valleys starting with the Vale di Sole and the Val di Non with its countless apple orchards. Here we taste the refreshing local apple juice on a visit to a traditional farm. We return to the hotel well in time for dinner.


Day 5

Thursday Heading south we make for Riva at the head of magnificent Lake Garda to board a Boat for the ride over to pretty Limone. Here we visit the historical lemon gardens before boarding the boat again for the ride across the lake to Malcesine a popular town with a delightful picturesque harbour, narrow cobbled streets and an imprssive ruined castle. Before our return to Bolzano we visit a traditional olive mill and discover the secrets of the green gold of the lake.


Day 6

Friday This morning we visit the picturesque climatic spa town of Merano, surrounded by an amazing landscape of vineyards, castles and orchards. This city has plenty to offer: health spas, shopping, culture and stunning esplanades and gardens. Visit the extraordinary Gardens of Trauttmansdorff Castle, stretching over twelve hectares. They were first created in the 1850’s and today consist of about eighty different gardens of local and exotic plants, offering an enchanting colourful botanic mixture from all over the world. Follow in the footsteps of Empress Sissi who had a huge impact on Merano.


Day 7

Saturday This morning after breakfast we bid farewell to our hosts at Hotel Premtaller. Retracing our outward route we head back to France, staying at an overnight hotel in Metz.


Day 8

Sunday After breakfast we complete the last leg of our journey, heading back through France to Calais where we catch the shuttle back to England. On arrival in Folkestone we continue our journey back to our home areas, arriving late afternoon.
