Your Itinerary:

Day 1

SundayWe leave our home areas to join the Club Class coach for the drive north arriving at Guisborough Hall Hotel late afternoon.

Day 2

MondayWe begin with a spectacular ride through Bilsdale also known as ‘Little Switzerland’ and past the Sun Inn which has had the same landlord for 200 years! Passing near historic Rievaulx Abbey we come to delightful Helmsley, with its huge market square and little tea rooms. Here we take a break for lunch and continue later past Ampleforth and Byland Abbey to Kilburn, under the famous White Horse. Whilst we are here we visit the ‘Mousey Thompson’ Visitor Centre, with its gift shop and tea room before making our way back to the hotel for dinner.

Day 3

Tuesday This morning we begin with a drive across the moors to the visit of Danby. Here we visit the Danby Moors Centre which is set in idyllic spot on the banks of the River Esk, where we include tea/coffee and scones. Leaving Danby we head up on to the moors and Blakey Ridge to the lovely village of Hutton-le-Hole. Here we visit the Ryedale Folk Museum and learn all about the history of the village and surrounding dales. We then make our way to Pickering where we have chance to grab something to eat before we join the North Yorkshire Moors Railway for an 18 mile steam train journey across the moors to Grosmont, calling at Goathland (TV’s Heartbeat) on the way. At Grosmont we join the coach back to the hotel.

Day 4

Wednesday Today we are heading for the seaside. Our first stop is to Saltburn-by-the- Sea, a traditional small seaside resort. Here we take the unique Cliff Lift to the shore and enjoy a stroll along the historic pier. Next to Whitby, a maritime town, fishing port and seafarer’s haven, bursting with character and quite unique. Later we cross the scenic moorlands past Scaling reservoir before we arrive at the hotel for our final evening’s dinner.

The attractive parkland surrounds the museum and in the museum itself we will find a delightful collection of memorabilia from times gone by.
