Owing to the huge popularity of our previous tours, it gives us pleasure to once again
offer this unique holiday to the Scilly Isles, known as the ‘Fortune Isles' or the Flower
Islands. The Islands are said to have only two seasons Spring and Summer and spring
flowers are often picked throughout the year! Beaches of fine sands are washed by
the waters of the Gulf Stream and throughout the year the landscape is lush and green
with sub tropical plants and superb displays of flowers. The islands number about 150
but only 5 are inhabited and all have a fascinating collection of fauna and flora, the
islands are of particular interest to bird lovers with large colonies of sea birds, white
dolphins and seals often seen swimming in the clear blue waters. All of the smaller
islands have their own distinct flavour which brings back visitors year after year to
these “Enchanted Isles”.
EARLY BOOKING RECOMMENDED.
This small hotel has been welcoming guests for over 100 years and is situated in Hugh Town, the capital of St. Mary's. It has a relaxed, informal atmosphere and enjoys a high level of repeat business thanks to the personal, attentive service. There is not a lift at this hotel but ground floor rooms are available.
Thursday We depart our home area early morning and travel via the motorway network to the West Country and then across Devon into Cornwall to Newquay, where we will meet our skybus for the flight over to St. Mary’s. This is a lovely short hop over the Cornish Coast and Islands. We arrive at the Bell Rock Hotel where we settle in before dinner.
Friday to Sunday One day will include a tour on the main and largest Island, St. Mary’s, with its stunning coast and fascinating inland areas including ‘Holy Vale’; the day on St Mary’s will feature a guided tour of the Old Town and Peninnis Head.
Monday Sadly it is time to leave the tranquillity of the Scillys and return to the mainland via the Skybus back to Newquay. We then head for our home areas arriving this evening to be greeted by our awaiting taxis.
The excursions included within our itinerary include long walks around the Islands which are mostly on the level so good walking shoes are essential; for this reason we do not recommend this holiday for those with limited mobility. The itinerary is subject to change without prior notice due to weather conditions and Fenn Holidays cannot be held responsible for any such changes.
