A fantastic two centre holiday – Our first resort, is the picturesque village of Soll conveniently located between Kitzbuhel and Kufstein in the heart of the wonderful Austrian Tyrol; it sits in a broad sunny valley between the Wild Kaiser and the Hohe Salve Mountains. For our second resort we are pleased to return to beautiful Slovenia and the elegant resort of Lake Bled. Situated in a breathtaking location amid the Slovenian Alps and close to the border with Austria, the lake and village of Bled are surrounded by snow-capped mountains and green forest. A tiny island with an old church is set like a jewel in the clear blue waters.
The impressive 4 star Hotel Tyrol is located a few minutes walk from the centre of Soll and boasts an impressive range of facilities including a large heated swimming pool, sauna solarium and whirlpool. There are two bars and a restaurant. All the en-suite bedrooms are furnished to a high standard with Satellite TV, telephone and balcony. A lift serves all floors.
The 4 star Park Hotel is located in the heart of Bled, next to the lake itself. Facilities at the hotel include a large bar and relaxing lounge, a ‘wellness’ centre including sauna, gymnasium, massage, Jacuzzi and indoor swimming pool and an elegant restaurant. Each of the hotels bedrooms are en-suite with cable television, hair dryer, direct dial telephone and a balcony. A lift serves all floors.
Sunday Our door to door service takes us to the waiting Club Class coach for the drive to Folkestone during which a light breakfast is served. Boarding the mid morning train a glass of champagne and snacks set the holiday mood. From Calais through France to our overnight hotel in Saarbrucken.
Monday Through the Vosges to Karlsruhe where we cross the Rhine. Now by autobahn via the Black Forest Stuttgart and Munich to Kufstein and the Austrian border. We arrive in Soll and the Hotel Tyrol late afternoon. A welcome drink precedes dinner this evening.
Tuesday A day to relax in Soll. Explore the village, take a chair lift into the mountains or make use of the hotels leisure facilities.
Wednesday A leisurely buffet breakfast before our visit to Innsbruck, ‘City of the Alps’. On arrival we first visit the Bergisel Ski Jump Stadium, with breathtaking views over the city. The dominant feature of Innsbruck is the magnificent Hofburg, a large Baroque style palace, there is also the Court Church, of course, the Golden Roof and much more. Our return includes time in pretty Rattenberg with colourful houses built on the banks of the River Inn and home of the world famous Swarovski Crystal.
Thursday A circular day tour of natural wonder that takes us first to the Pinzgau and Europe’s highest waterfall at Krimml. Water cascades over 3 stages and falls more than1200ft. We cross the scenic Gerlos Pass to another great valley, the Zillertal, to spend time in Mayrhofen a popular year round resort, sitting at the entrance to 5 glacial valleys.Take a ride on the Penken cable car for stunning views of the village and the surrounding snow-capped peaks. Our tour is completed by driving along the Inn Valley to Worgl and back to Soll.
FridayWe depart Soll this morning and enjoy a day of stunning scenery as we travel through the majestic Austrian Alps and take the spectacular Grossglockner road. This magnificently engineered highway runs from nearby Bruck to Heiligenblut and offers us views over mountain peaks and glaciers, a truly memorable journey. Climbing to a height of over 8,000 feet we reach the base of Austria’s highest mountain – the Grossglockner at 12,460ft where the awesome Pasterze glacier spreads out before us. Our descent sees us stop in iconic Heiligenblut before reaching Carinthia. The last leg of our drive is through the 5 mile long Karawanka tunnel into the Julian Alps to arrive at our holiday hotel in Bled late afternoon with time to settle in before dinner.
Saturday A day at leisure to explore Bled, maybe take a boat cruise on the lake or simply familiarise yourself with this beautiful place.
Sunday Today starts with the breathtaking scenery of the Julian Alps as we travel through on our way to the famous village of Kranjska Gora, nestling beneath the jagged edges of Projnik and Razor, next to the Austrian and Italian border. We return to the Park hotel for our final evening’s dinner.
MondayWe retrace our drive along the impressive motorway through the wonderful mountains of the Hohe Tauern to Salzburg then on through Bavaria to the Rhine Valley and the ACHAT Plaza Hotel Karlsruhe for our overnight stay.
Tuesday Homeward bound we travel west to the French border and the Forest of Argonne to Reims then north to the coast for the late afternoon shuttle from Calais to Folkestone. We return to our home area and waiting taxis mid evening.
