Beamish – The Living Museum of the North’, tells the story of life in North East England in Georgian, Victorian and Edwardian times. Here we find Pockerley Old Hall, The Town, Rowley Station, The Fairground, Home Farm and The Pit Village. Most of the houses, shops and other buildings at the site have been brought to Beamish, rebuilt and furnished as they once were. We are pleased to offer a weekend break that features the memorable Christmas Parade launching the start of Christmas at Beamish and a visit to the National Rail Museum at Shildon.

Friday From your front door to the waiting Club Class coach for the drive north to make a stop for lunch in Harrogate, then on to Newcastle to check into our hotel for tea/coffee and biscuits then time to settle in before dinner.
Saturday After a leisurely breakfast we make our way to Beamish Open Air Museum. Every year Father Christmas arrives in style for his stay at Beamish, he’s travelled by RAF Sea King helicopter, by motorbike, on a fire engine, as part of a nativity parade with real camels and even been escorted by unicorns! A fantastic procession of Beamish vehicles, huskies, marching bands and Mrs Claus in her sleigh will make its way through The 1900s Town street to the Fairground, for the countdown to the Christmas tree lights switch-on. Plus there is bound to be a few surprises organised by Father Christmas on the day. Experience the magic of Christmas past, with the wondrous sights, sounds and delicious tastes of truly traditional festive celebrations. We make a good stay before returning to our hotel with time to relax before this evening’s dinner.
SundayWe begin our homeward journey soon after breakfast, heading south we make an included visit to Shildon and ‘Locomotion’ part of the National Rail Museum, the largest in the world and home to over 200 years of rail history is built on the site of the world’s first passenger railway. After ample time to explore we continue our journey to return to our home area late afternoon.
