Blackwell Grange hotel - 3 Star

The 3 Blackwell Grange Hotel is a beautiful 17th century mansion that is peacefully situated in nine acres of its own grounds. The building commenced in 1693 and was completed in 1717 and the hotel was a private home until 1953. Hotel facilities include leisure a club with heated indoor swimming pool, spa and saunas. All of the 108 spacious en-suite bedrooms feature a TV, radio, telephone, hairdryer and tea/coffee making facilities. The hotel is served by a lift.



Your Itinerary:



Day 1

Friday From your front door to the waiting Club Class coach for the drive north. We arrive at our holiday hotel to enjoy a welcome tea or coffee and biscuits. Later we have time to settle in before we join our fellow guests for a drink and dinner which will be followed by the first of our evening entertainment.


Day 2

Saturday After breakfast we visit the ancient city of York. The day is free to wonder the old streets of ‘The Shambles’ of travel back to Viking times at the Jorvik centre. Why not visit the National Railway Museum, enjoy lunch in an old world pub, stroll the city walls and of course pay a visit to the magnificent York Minster. This evening we have a pre-dinner drink before tonight’s Gala dinner and afterwards we have an evening of musical entertainment.


Day 3

Sunday This morning we travel to Gateshead on the south bank of the Tyne and walk across the new Millenium ‘Winking Eye’ bridge into Newcastle’s famous Sunday Quayside market. We have time here to browse and obtain lunch perhaps in a quayside pub. From here we travel to the world’s oldest railway, the Tanfield Railway for an unforgettable journey on a vintage steam train, with unique Victorian carriages and a lovingly restored locomotive. The ride is around six miles taking in beautiful rolling countryside and a spectacular wooded valley. Later we return to the hotel to relax before tonight’s dinner and entertainment.


Day 4

Monday After breakfast we bid farewell to our hosts and make our way south. We take a scenic drive through the North York Moors National Park to historic Helmsley then descend steep Sutton Bank with magnificent views before joining the motorway for a mid-afternoon arrival in our home area, where we are greeted by our awaiting taxis after a delightful long weekend.
