It gives us great pleasure to return once again to the glorious Italian Riviera and Alassio, a super tour and one of our favourites! The Italian Riviera stretches along the Mediterranean coast from the French frontier to Genoa, but around San Remo, Diano Marina and Alassio, it is also called The Riviera of Flowers. Our resort is Alassio, picturesquely situated on a bay with a lovely sandy beach and backdrop of hills and mountains rising from the rear of the town. Along the palm lined sea front and the main streets and piazzas the resort is flat with many narrow shopping streets, providing a great deal of interest for the wandering holidaymaker. This tour is always enjoyed by our clients and our crew!
The 4 star Grand Hotel Spiaggia enjoys a superb location along the sea front of Alassio, just a short flat walk into the old part of the town. The hotel offers a high standard of accommodation including ensuite facilities, complimentary toiletries, TV and telephone. Public facilities at the hotel include a beautiful panoramic restaurant with views across the sparkling Mediterranean, a cosy bar and lounge area and an outdoor swimming pool. The hotel is served by two lifts.
Saturday From your front door to the waiting Club Class coach for the drive to Folkestone, during which a light breakfast is served. Boarding the mid-morning train a glass of champagne and snacks set the holiday mood. Arriving in Calais we travel through France to reach our overnight hotel in time for dinner.
Sunday Magnificent Alpine scenery as we head for Chambery and use the Frejus Tunnel to cross the border into Italy. The delightful River Riparia leads us towards the great city of Turin before we turn south to the coast and our holiday resort of Alassio arriving late afternoon.
Monday A day at leisure, a chance to explore this delightful resort.
Tuesday We have a drive up into the scenic hills behind our resort to see some of the beautiful small villages and vineyards that show a different side to this diverse area. We include a visit to an Olive oil producing farm with the opportunity to taste the golden liquid accompanied by delicious nibbles.
Wednesday A full day to Monte Carlo and the principality of Monaco. A chance to see the late Prince Rainier’s Royal Palace, where a daily ‘Changing of the Guard’ ceremony takes place, the famous casino and the magnificent harbour filled with the most expensive yachts in the world.
Thursday Full day tour around the Riviera, past the port of Genoa, home of Christopher Columbus, to Rapallo, where we board a boat to spend time in the small but world famous idyllic port and village of Portofino.
Friday A morning visit to the elegant resort of San Remo. We have this afternoon at leisure back in our resort to enjoy the spring sunshine.
SaturdayWe bid farewell to Italy and begin our homeward journey by travelling north to Turin and the mighty Alps then into France to our overnight hotel.
Sunday We continue northwards towards Troyes then through the Plain of Champagne to Reims and its magnificent Gothic cathedral to reach Calais and the late afternoon train to Folkestone. We arrive in our home area mid evening after a refreshing Spring Holiday
