As one of the leading resorts of the North, Morecambe has everything to make a stay here as enjoyable as possible with its sandy beaches, theatres and leisure facilities and wonderful views of the Lake District. Our great value break includes a varied and scenic excursion programme that is not to be missed!
The popular 3 star Headway Hotel is ideally located on the broad sweep of Morecambe's east promenade, with breathtaking views across the magnificent Morecambe Bay to the rolling hills of the Lake District. Public facilities include a restaurant, bar and the large and comfortable Rydal Lounge Ballroom where entertainment is provided. Each of the wellappointed bedrooms is en-suite with tea and coffee making facilities, and served by a lift.
Monday Our door to door service takes you to the waiting ‘Club Class’ coach for the drive to Morecambe via Skipton and the Yorkshire Dales, arriving late afternoon. On arrival tea, coffee and biscuits will be served whilst our bags are taken up to our rooms. We enjoy time to settle in before a Sherry reception and dinner this evening. Hotel entertainment is provided each evening.
Tuesday Today’s excursion takes us around Morecambe Bay to the genteel resort of Grange-over-Sands where we take a break and have chance to look around. From here we make our way to Cark and magnificent Holker Hall and Gardens. Just a short drive away is the Lakeland Motor Museum, housing some 20,000 exhibits including cars, bikes, tractors and all kinds of memorabilia. After an excellent afternoon we make our way back to Morecambe.
Wednesday Travelling through the scenic Lune Valley, we head for the stunning Yorkshire Dales National Park. From Ingleton we climb into the Pennines to the famous viaduct at Ribblehead before we continue across the moors to the thriving community of Hawes, with its antique shops, craftspeople and cafes. Our return journey takes us via the lonely Moorcock Inn and Garsdale Head to Sedbergh, Kirkby Lonsdale and Carnforth to Morecambe.
Thursday ‘High Adventure’! The ‘Mountain Goat’ minibuses take us where large coaches cannot go. This is a wonderful day taking in the mountain passes of the Western Fells, Wrynose Pass, the desolate Duddon Valley and awesome Hardknott Pass. See the lonely Roman Fort as we descend into Eskdale for a ride on L’al Ratty also known as the Ravenglass and Eskdale Miniature Railway. Here we can see Wastwater which has been voted as Britain’s favourite view before we return to the hotel via the southern fells. We enjoy a drink with our final evening’s dinner.
Friday After breakfast we bid farewell to our hosts as we make our way home. We enjoy a drive through the Peak District with a lunch stop in the busy market town of Bakewell, before arriving back in our home areas late afternoon.
