This delightful 5 day tour takes us round many of the highlights that Lancashire has to offer. We stay in the charming city of Preston which became England's 50th city in the 50th year of Queen Elizabeth II's reign. We enjoy a relaxing canal cruise with an included cream tea as well as 2 interesting train journeys.

Marriott Preston Hotel - 4 Star

The Preston Marriott Hotel is a grand Victorian manor house, set in 11 acres of gardens and woodlands, located in north Preston, it is an ideal base for this holiday. The hotels has many facilities including an indoor swimming pool, gym, sauna and steam room. The bars make a perfect place for you to relax after our days out. All of the 145 bedrooms are ensuite and have a TV and all of the other modern facilities that you would expect from a hotel of this standard. A lift serves all 3 floors.

Your Itinerary:

Day 1

Thursday From your front door to the waiting Club Class coach for the drive to Lancashire where we arrive at the Marriott Preston Hotel late afternoon. We have time to settle in before dinner.

Day 2

Friday After breakfast we make our way to Kendal. We have time to explore and obtain lunch before continuing to Appleby this afternoon. Arriving in Appleby we join the Settle & Carlisle Railway for a ride through stunning scenery, taking us across the majestic Ribblehead Viaduct on our way to Settle. Upon arrival we have a short break before re-joining the coach for the journey back to the hotel.

Day 3

Saturday This morning we make our way into North Yorkshire as we drive to the market town which is known as the ‘Gateway to the Dales’, Skipton. After time here we drive along Airedale to Keighley where we catch the steam train for a ride along the Worth Valley to Haworth, home of the Bronte sisters. We enjoy time in Haworth to look around its cobbled streets and enjoy lunch in one of its many tea rooms or cafes. Later we join the coach for the short drive to Oakworth Station which was featured in the film, ‘Railway Children’ and is unchanged from Victorian times.

Day 4

Sunday For our final outing we have a short drive to Barton Grange Garden Centre. The canal is adjacent to the garden centre and from here we join the boat for a leisurely 2 hour cruise with an included cream tea which is served as we gently glide along. After our cruise we have time to look around the garden centre before returning to the hotel.

Day 5

Monday We bid farewell to our hosts and make our way home, arriving midafternoon to be greeted by our awaiting taxis.
