Your Itinerary:

Day 1

Sunday We leave our home areas to join the Club Class coach for the drive to Wales arriving in Llandrindod Wells late afternoon with time to relax before dinner.

Day 2

Monday This morning we begin with a drive to the Elan Valley and the Dams Visitor Centre where we enjoy a short break. We return to Llandrindod Wells with time to obtain lunch before our afternoon visit to the beautiful Hall at Abbey-Cwm-Hir. In a setting of history and romance, the Hall and its 12 acres overlook St Mary’s Church and the ruins of the 12th century ‘Abbey of the Long Valley’. Each of the 52 rooms all have their original features and the house is bursting with interior design ideas from bygone times. With much to see in the house, there is also the beautiful walled garden with its stunning flowers and waterfall. After a wonderful afternoon, we make our way back to the hotel with time before dinner.

Day 3

Tuesday An early start as we make our way to Aberystwyth and the Vale of Rheidol Railway. We catch the morning train along the former Great Western line to Devil’s Bridge, known for being the last route to operate steam trains for British Rail when the line passed to private ownership in 1989. We make a stop at Devil’s Bridge with time for refreshments and exploration before catching the return train back to Aberystwyth.

Day 4

Wednesday Our day begins with a drive north to Welshpool where we make a stop. After time to explore we make our way to the magnificent Powis Castle and Gardens. Laid out under influence of the Italian and French style, the famous garden has original statues, orangery and an aviary on the terraces. Perched on a rock above the garden terraces, the medieval castle contains one of the finest collections of paintings and furniture in Wales. After plenty of time to explore, we make our way to Knighton before returning to the hotel.

Day 5

Thursday After breakfast we leave Wales and head for home. Late afternoon we arrive in our home areas where we are greeted by our awaiting taxis.
