Overview

This fabulous tour takes us to delightful Cheshire, known for its rural half-timbered villages, local red sandstone buildings and for its Industrial Revolution heritage. Its county seat is Chester, founded as a Roman fort in the first century, home to the Roman walls and cathedral displaying 1,000 years of architectural history. We include a guided tour of the Port Sunlight Museum and Gardens, and of course our visit to Tatton Park.

Your Itinerary:



Day 1

Thursday From your front door to the waiting Club Class coach for the drive west to Cheshire. We arrive in Knutsford late afternoon with time to settle in before dinner.


Day 2

Friday After a leisurely breakfast, we travel to the Port Sunlight Museum and Garden Village. Our visit includes a guided tour by one of the knowledgeable staff who will open up the historical story about life in the village for factory workers and village residents. After time here we continue via the Mersey Tunnel to Liverpool for free time before we return to the hotel in time for dinner.


Day 3

Saturday After this morning’s breakfast we travel to historic Chester where we have time at leisure. Chester is a classic, contemporary city bursting with must see treasures, 2000 years of history and many great shops. After plenty of time to explore we return to the hotel for dinner.


Day 4

Sunday Today we make our way to one of the UK’s most complete historic estates, Tatton Park. It is home to a Tudor Old Hall, Neo-Classical Mansion, 50 acres of landscaped gardens, a rare breed farm and 1000 acres of deer park. Here we enjoy entrance to the mansions, gardens and farm. We have plenty of time to wander around and perhaps relax in one of the grounds tearooms before making our way back to the hotel for our final evening’s dinner.


Day 5

Monday We bid farewell to our hosts and make our way home. We arrive in our home areas late afternoon to be greeted by our awaiting taxis.
