Another of our firm favourites, Weymouth. The town’s fine Georgian seafront is an impressive backdrop to the long arc of fine, golden sands and the views from the bay are spectacular, stretching across the horizon taking in the World Heritage Jurassic Coastline.
The 3 star Rex Hotel was originally built for the Duke of Clarence as his summer residence when King George III held the Royal Court in Weymouth. The Rex Hotel offers the comforts and luxuries of a modern hotel yet still retains its original character and splendour. Situated on the Esplanade overlooking the stunning sands, each of the en-suite rooms have a TV and tea/coffee making facilities. A lift serves all floors.
Sunday From your front door to the Club Class coach for the drive to Weymouth. We arrive at the Rex Hotel mid afternoon with time to settle in before dinner.
Monday After a leisurely breakfast we enjoy a drive along the Jurassic Coast from Lyme Regis to Seaton then on to Beer and Sidmouth for free time. This lovely seaside town nestles beneath majestic red cliffs and the green hills of the glorious Sid Valley. Enjoy beautiful Regency history and friendly shops before returning to the hotel with time to relax before dinner.
Tuesday A morning visit to Dorchester, the county town of Dorset and forever associated with the author Thomas Hardy. Early afternoon, our return takes us across the causeway to the Isle of Portland for tremendous views of the famous lighthouse and Weymouth Bay before spending the rest of the afternoon in Weymouth.
Wednesday Today we visit the seaside resort of Bournemouth. There is so much to see and do here; enjoy some retail therapy or relax in some of Bournemouth’s 2000 acres of glorious gardens and parks before we return to the hotel with time to relax before this evenings dinner.
Thursday After breakfast we bid farewell to our hosts and make our way home. We arrive to be greeted by our awaiting taxis.
