Our Highland adventure continues as we drive along the shores of Loch Ness, maybe a glimpse of the elusive Nessie! Then on to Wester Ross and our welcoming hotel, the Royal, in Ullapool. We arrive with ample time to settle in well before dinner.
Saturday A relaxing day in our chosen resort, the peaceful and charming village of Ullapool, once a fishing port and now a favourite resort in its own right, enjoying a beautiful setting between the mountains and the seas at the mouth of Loch Broom. It should be possible to arrange a boat ride on tranquil Loch Broom.
Sunday A full day of dramatic Wester Ross scenery as we travel via the waterfall at Corrieshalloch Gorge then skirt the shores of lovely Loch Maree, stopping for photos, to the pretty harbour village of Gairloch, We arrive at Inverewe Gardens at lunch time. The Walled Garden features specimens from around the world and if lucky, you may spot some of the wildlife - otters, pine martens, seals and red deer are all local residents. Our return is by way of spectacular Gruinard Bay and Little Loch Broom to Ullapool.
Monday Moving on this morning we leave the Royal heading west towards Inverness. Our route takes us through impressive Highland scenery to make a stop at the wonderful Falls of Shin. Although not particularly high the falls have great power and during the summer Salmon can often be seen attempting to jump on their way to the spawning grounds. We spend time in Inverness, Capital of the Highlands, before continuing our scenic drive through the Cairngorms National Park to our next Holiday home, the 4 star Crieff Hydro in beautiful Perthshire.
