One of our best sellers! The Tyrol is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful landers of
Austria, renowned for its majestic mountain peaks, picturesque valleys and lush
green meadows, along with picture postcard villages. Our tour is based in the
charming little village of Kirchberg, an ideal location, well positioned in the heart of
the Kitzbuhler Alps.
We include visits Mozart’s Salzburg, the mighty Grossglockner and a narrow gauge train ride along the Ziller Valley.
The family run 4 star Zentral is located in the centre of Kirchberg as its name suggests; built in the traditional chalet style the hotel is renowned for its warm welcome and comfort. Each of the en-suite bedrooms is equipped with a telephone, satellite TV, a safety-box and a hair dryer. Most rooms have a balcony and many have views of the surrounding mountains. Other facilities at the hotel include a sun terrace, restaurant, bar, games room and a comprehensive wellness area. The hotel is served by two lifts. We include an ‘All Inclusive’ drinks package and daily take away packed lunch or light lunch in the hotel.
Sunday Our door to door service takes you to the waiting Club Class coach for the drive to Folkestone during which a light breakfast is served. Boarding the mid-morning train a glass of fizz and snacks set the holiday mood. On through Belgium to Germany and our overnight hotel.
Monday A fine buffet breakfast before departing for Austria. Travelling through Germany we cross the Rhine at Karlsruhe and pass Stuttgart and Munich. Ahead we see the Alps and after crossing the border near the Wild Kaiser Mountains we reach Kirchberg and our holiday hotel.
Tuesday A restful day in our resort, make use of the hotels excellent leisure facilities and partake of the inclusive drinks arrangements or enjoy a ride on the nearby cable car.
Wednesday A circular day tour of natural wonder that takes us first to the Pinzgau and Europe’s highest waterfall at Krimml. Water cascades over 3 stages and falls more than1200ft. We cross the scenic Gerlos Pass to another great valley, the Zillertal, to spend time in Mayrhofen a popular year round resort, sitting at the entrance to 5 glacial valleys. Our tour is complete when we join the Zillertal Railway for a relaxing ride to Fugen then take the coach back to Kirchberg.
Thursday The scenic highlight of our tour, as we take the spectacular Grossglockner road. This magnificently engineered highway runs from nearby Bruck to Heiligenblut and offers us views over mountain peaks and glaciers, a truly memorable journey, climbing to a height of over 8,000 feet we reach the base of Austria’s highest mountain – the Grossglockner at 12,460ft.The awesome Pasterze glacier spreads out before us.
Friday A full day excursion to Salzburg – The City of Music! Home of ‘The Sound of Music’ and the birthplace of Mozart with tributes to the brilliant composer all over the city. We include a visit to the magnificent Hellbrunn Palace where a tour of the gardens and fountains is both pleasant and full of surprises. Various parts of the Sound of Music were filmed here, for example the Pavilion where Franz and Liesel first meet is in located in the park.
Saturday A morning visit to the world famous resort of Kitzbuhl. This picturesque old world town, nestling between the Kitzbuhler Horn and the Hahnenkamm, has a delightful pedestrianised centre with a wealth of cafes and interesting shops, perfect for last minute souvenirs. We return to the hotel for an included lunch and relaxing afternoon.
Sunday We leave Kirchberg for our home ward journey. Through Bavaria possibly making a stop in Ulm, home of the world’s tallest cathedral, built on the banks of the River Danube. Then by way of the Black Forest to reach our overnight hotel in Germany.
Monday After a fine buffet breakfast we depart for Brussels then Calais for the late afternoon shuttle to Folkestone. We return to our home area and waiting taxis arriving early evening.
