We are proud to offer truly wonderful new tour for 2019, ‘Grand Imperial Cities of Europe’. The name says it all from the ancient spires of graceful Prague, to the maze of streets that make up Budapest, to the elegance of Vienna, this tour sparkles with the sort of Imperial history that is captured in the stunning treasures of some of Europe’s most beautiful cities.

Your Itinerary:



Day 1

Friday Our door to door service takes you to the waiting coach for the drive to Folkestone during which a light breakfast is served. Boarding the mid morning train a glass of fizz and snacks set the holiday mood. Through Belgium and Germany to our overnight hotel, the 4 star Maritim in Gelsenkirchen.


Day 2

Saturday A buffet breakfast before we continue our journey east to the historical city of Leipzig in the former East Germany. En-route we visit the enchanting Schloss Marienburg, one of Germany’s most significant monuments, built in neo-gothic style. We arrive at our modern 4 star hotel, the NH late afternoon.


Day 3

Sunday Today we make our way to Prague, from Leipzig it’s a short distance to the wonderful city of Dresden, capital of Saxony. The city was badly damaged during WWII but has been lovingly reconstructed with many of its beautiful historic buildings restored to their former glory. We spend time to admire the Zwinger Palace and the Semper Opera House and others during our visit. Our tour continues as we cross the Czech border and travel through famous vineyards producing superb white wines around Melnik before reaching our 4 star city centre hotel, the Adria Prague late afternoon.


Day 4

Monday This morning we are joined at our hotel, which is perfectly located on historic Wenceslas Square, by a local guide for a walking tour of beautiful Prague .Don’t miss the St Vitus cathedral or the Astronomical Clock. The Czech Republic is home to some of the world’s best beers so later relax at one of the many cafes and bars sipping some of the famous brew.


Day 5

Tuesday Another relaxing day in Prague starting with a 2 hour river cruise on the Vltava that dissects the city. From the river there are fine views of the famous Charles Bridge lined with evocative statues of saints.


Day 6

Wednesday We head south this morning driving through the landscape of Eastern Europe by way of the cities of Brno and Bratislava into Hungary and our next Imperial city, Budapest. Our 4 star hotel, the Astoria, is a traditional hotel located a few minutes stroll from the main attractions of Pest. We arrive late afternoon with ample time to settle in before dinner.


Day 7

Thursday Today we explore two cities in one as we have a short guided walking tour of Budapest. Divided by the River Danube you will be spoilt for choice in this delightful city that is made up of traditional Buda and cosmopolitan Pest. Whichever part you choose to explore you will find Art Nouveau coffee houses and Imperial buildings that survived the Communist era.


Day 8

Friday This morning we head back towards the west as we bid farewell to Budapest and make for Austria and its capital city Vienna. After crossing the Austrian border we make a stop in the Neuseidler National Park created around the enormous, but very shallow lake of the same name and we should be able to see some of the local inhabitants, large storks. We arrive at our next city centre hotel, the 4 star Hotel & Palais Strudlhof, mid afternoon. Enjoy a drink and take in the city views from the open plan bar on the roof top terrace before dinner this evening.


Day 9

Saturday Today we visit the wonderful Schonbrunn Palace where we have a guided tour to help us see the luxurious interiors of some of the 1,441 rooms, which are filled with magnificent chandeliers, beautiful ceiling frescoes and stunning gold decoration. Later we make a guided tour by coach of the city both new and old parts before time to explore further.


Day 10

Sunday A real highlight today when we visit the famous Spanish Riding School where Lipizzaner stallions have enchanted royalty and tourists alike with their perfect dressage for 450 years. To get an insight into the years of training of the horses and riders. We take in the “Morning Exercise” which is accompanied by classical Viennese music. Later we are guided through the various locations that make up the charm of the historic institution. The rest of the day is at leisure.


Day 11

Monday Our homeward journey begins this morning as we leave Vienna heading west. Our road takes us to the wonderful Austrian Lake District and we make a stop on the shores of Mondsee in the heart of ‘Sound of Music Country’. Later we pass Salzburg and cross the border into Bavaria to reach our overnight hotel close to the city of Ulm late afternoon.


Day 12

Tuesday Leaving our hotel after a fine buffet breakfast we travel along the northern edge of the Black Forest then cross the River Rhine to spend some time in the fine old city of Strasbourg, home of the European Parliament. We visit picturesque Petit France with its halftimbered Alsace houses bedecked with flowers. This afternoon we cross the Vosges Mountains to reach our final hotel in the city of Reims, the 3 star Mercure.


Day 13

Wednesday The final day of our tour sees us spend time at the magnificent gothic masterpiece, Reims cathedral. We have a short tour as we leave the city and travel through northern France to Calais for the late afternoon shuttle train back to England. Detraining in Folkestone we make use of the motorways to return to our home area at the end of a memorable grand tour.
