Following the success of previous tours we are pleased to offer this quality tour as we return once again to the popular resort of Lido di Jesolo. One of the best known resorts on the Venetian Riviera, laced with soft golden sands and just a short journey away from the beautiful city of Venice.
This excellent four star hotel is located right in the centre of the resort with the beach just two minutes’ walk away. A main feature of the hotel is the rooftop pool, with its sun terraces and a pool bar. Other facilities include a bar, lounge, coffee bar and a boulevard café. All the air-conditioned bedrooms are ensuite and there is a lift to all floors.
Saturday Our door to door service takes you to the waiting Club Class coach for the drive to Folkestone during which a light breakfast is served. Boarding the morning shuttle train to Calais, a glass of fizz and snacks set the holiday mood. On through France to the Alsace region and our overnight hotel, arriving late afternoon well in time for dinner.
Sunday Today we cross the Vosges Mountains and follow the River Rhine south into Switzerland. Passing Lucerne we enjoy a superb scenic drive towards the Alps. Crossing the spectacular Gotthard Pass, weather permitting, we soon reach the Italian lakes and our next overnight hotel.
Monday A leisurely breakfast and time to explore pretty lakeside Iseo before heading east towards the Adriatic. We reach our excellent 4 star hotel on the Venetian Riviera mid-afternoon with plenty of time to settle in well before dinner.
Tuesday A day at leisure in our chosen resort, take some sun on the sandy beach, explore the popular town with its host of shops and cafes or make use of the superb rooftop terrace and swimming pool.
Wednesday Today we have a full day visit to the magical City of Venice commencing with a short drive from Jesolo to Punta Sabbione from where we continue by waterbus directly to world famous St. Mark’s Square. Admire the historic beauty of Venice, the main monuments in the square and those nearby such as the Ducal Palace, the Rialto Bridge, the Library, the island of San Giorgio and of course St. Mark’s Basilica.
Thursday A full day excursion into the Dolomite Mountains travelling through some of Europe’s most dramatic mountain scenery and visiting the chic resort of Cortina d’Ampezzo. We pass the historic little town of Vittorio and cross the Fadalto Pass to the banks of the Santa Croce Lake, then continue to the Cadore mountain area where you can glimpse some of the most famous peaks in the Dolomites such as Sorapis, Antelao, Pelmo and the Cinque Torri. Explore the resort of Cortina d’Ampezzo and maybe take a ride on one of the lifts up the mountain.
Friday A short day visit to Padova, an ancient university city that conserves numerous testimonies of its glorious artistic and cultural past that make it a destination for tourists from all over the world. It is the site of the famous Cappella degli Scrovegni, which houses a renowned cycle of frescoes by Giotto, considered one of the masterpieces of Western art. Explore the Botanical Gardens, visit Caffè Pedrocchi, one of the most famous cafés in the world located in the heart of the city centre and take a walk in Prato della Valle one of the largest piazzas in Europe at some 90,000 square meters.
Saturday A leisurely day in Lido soaking up the early summer sun and taking time for souvenir shopping.
Sunday After breakfast before we bid farewell to our coastal holiday home and return across the Italian plains to the Alps. Into Switzerland through the Gotthard Tunnel and beside beautiful Lake Lucerne to reach France at Basle. We continue on to our overnight hotel in Germany.
Monday We cross the River Rhine and drive through France, passing Reims and Arras in order to reach Calais. Here we take the late afternoon train back to Folkestone, arriving in our home area early evening, after an enjoyable and relaxing holiday.
