We are pleased to repeat our successful great value weekend tour that includes some beautiful scenery, a luxury hotel, a visit to the BBC’s flagship Media City in Manchester and a relaxing cruise along the Lancaster Canal whilst enjoying a fish and chip lunch.
The 4 star Preston Leyland Hotel has many unique touches, such as work by local artists and its modern Four Seasons restaurant. Hotel facilities include an indoor swimming pool, Jacuzzi, steam room and sauna. The hotel has 93 en-suite bedrooms which all have a telephone, TV, hairdryer and tea/coffee making facilities. The bar and lounge area offer ample seating. Although the hotel does not have a lift, there are ground floor rooms available on request.
Friday From your front door to the waiting Club Class coach for the drive north. We spend time in Holmfirth setting for the BBC’s long running serial ‘Last of the Summer Wine’ then take a drive over rugged Saddleworth Moor. Our arrival at our 4 star hotel is late afternoon where we enjoy a welcome tea or coffee with time to settle in before this evening’s dinner.
Saturday After breakfast we make our way into Manchester for our BBC Media City Tour. Home too many of the nation’s much loved shows, we get to take a sneak peek at how they’re made. Some of the favourites are Match of the Day, Blue Peter, Mastermind, BBC Breakfast, Radio 5 live, BBC Sport and the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra, to name just a few. After our tour we make our way to Preston to join the Lancaster Canal Cruiser. Relax along the canal and enjoy a fish and chip lunch with a cup of tea or coffee. We return to the hotel later this afternoon with time to relax before dinner which this evening is a themed Lancashire set menu
Sunday After breakfast we depart the hotel and make our way home. Our route is over the splendid Cat and Fiddle Pass and through the beautiful Peak to spend time in popular Bakewell. We arrive in our home area later this afternoon to be greeted by our awaiting taxis.
