Friday – Christmas Eve From your front door to the Club Class coach we make our way south to Paignton. Arriving mid-afternoon we are greeted by our hosts in the festive spirit. We start our beak with a welcoming tea or coffee and a mince pie. Why not indulge in a festive glass of warming mulled wine before this evening’s meal and entertainment.
Saturday – Christmas Day Merry Christmas to all! For all of us who have been good this year Father Christmas will be making a visit. This morning we take a short drive to nearby Torquay with time to discover the charms of the English Riviera’s largest resort. En route we make a visit to Buckfast Abbey, nestled in the shadow of Dartmoor, in a beautiful wooded valley beside the river Dart. Buckfast Abbey offers visitors a tranquil refuge from the hectic pace of everyday life. The Abbey is a working monastery where a community of Benedictine monks produce and sell their own Mead. We return to Paignton for the afternoon at leisure.
Sunday – New Year’s Eve After breakfast, today’s excursion takes us to the historic maritime city of Plymouth. The city has great naval history, stretching back to the time of Sir Francis Drake and the Spanish Armada to today’s ultra-modern navy dockyards. Explore the Hoe, see the famous Mayflower steps and visit the town centre before joining the coach for the drive back to the hotel. A cocktail and canape reception in the bar will precede this evening’s dinner.
Monday After breakfast we bid farewell to our hosts and hotel as we make our way home. We arrive late afternoon to be greeted by our awaiting taxis, after a relaxing jolly holiday!
