Overview

Looe, once a busy fishing community the town is divided into West & East Looe by its river. This picturesque resort has a variety of little shops, a busy harbour which is well worth visiting to watch the remaining fishing boats coming in to unload their catches. There is entertainment at the hotel following the ‘Cornish Christmas Cracker’ theme.

Your Accommodation:

Portbyhan Hotel - 3 Star

The 3 star Portbyhan Hotel is superbly located on the quayside overlooking the picturesque Cornish fishing port of Looe, in an unrivalled position in the heart of West Looe. Each of the en-suite rooms has tea & coffee making facilities. There is a lift to all floors.

Your Itinerary:

Day 1

Monday From your front door to the waiting Club Class coach for the drive to the southwest and Cornwall. We reach our hotel, the 3 star Portbyhan Hotel, where there is tea and coffee on arrival with time to settle in and relax before dinner is served.

Day 2

Tuesday After a leisurely breakfast we cross the River Tamar and take a drive into Dartmoor before spending time in the great maritime city of Plymouth, explore the old Barbican, visit the Mayflower steps from where the Pilgrim Fathers left England for their brave journey across the Atlantic. For more modern pursuits the large shopping centre provides the chance for Christmas shopping. After a good stay we return to the hotel. Dinner this evening is followed by entertainment.

Day 3

Wednesday This morning we take a short ride to the village of Polperro. Like most Cornish villages, Polperro has a history of smuggling although its legal trade is fishing! Known as one of the most popular places in Cornwall, Polperro is undoubtedly one of the prettiest. The afternoon is spent at leisure in our charming resort. Again this evening dinner is followed by festive entertainment.

Day 4

Thursday A leisurely breakfast before we drive to the Georgian village & harbour of Charlestown, the setting for the TV programmes Poldark and The Onedin Line. Next we visit the incredible Eden Project, a global garden spread over 25 acres, all under the cover of two enormous domes, the largest of their type in the world. We return to the hotel late afternoon with time to relax before dinner. Our stay is rounded off by another evening of entertainment

Day 5

Friday Time to head for home. Departing after breakfast we retrace the route of our outward journey to arrive back in our home area late afternoon after an enjoyable West Country break.
