It gives us pleasure to offer, once again, this wonderful way to experience the famous Christmas Markets of the mighty Rhine. Imagine a holiday which combines the relaxing and peaceful style of a river cruise, with the opportunity to visit some of the most beautiful destinations along the River Rhine – a truly romantic waterway overlooked by fairytale castles, vine clad slopes, quaint wine villages and towns, each with its own Christmas Market and an ever changing panorama of scenery.
The Esmeralda is a modern, comfortable vessel. Each of the passenger cabins are situated on the main and upper passenger decks, attractively decorated and equipped with telephone, colour TV, minisafe, en suite bathroom with shower, toilet and washstand. Also on the upper deck are the reception and an attractive Old- Dutch lounge. The tastefully decorated restaurant is situated on the main deck. Both of these decks can be reached by a passenger lift and a chair lift goes up to the sun-deck. The entire boat is air conditioned.

SaturdayWe enjoy breakfast as the ship cruises gently north past the famous Loreley Rock, Boppard, through the spectacular Rhine Gorge to Koblenz where, after lunch on board, we are free to visit the traditional Koblenz Christmas Market. Located in the historic district, the market offers over 100 stalls with a range of arts, crafts and Christmas decorations, not forgetting the tasty snacks, mulled wine and sweet smelling Christmas cakes. Back on board dinner is served.
Sunday This morning we set sail from Koblenz past the old capital Bonn, home of Beethoven and the noted Siebengebirge(Seven Hills) to our final destination, Cologne arriving just after lunch. Here you can enjoy anyone of the six Christmas markets the city has to offer. The four largest markets are found at the mighty Cathedral, on the Alter Markt, on the Neumarkt and on the Rudolfplatz with each market offering its own unique specialities. Our final evenings dinner, the Captains Farewell Dinner, is once again served on board.
Monday Breakfast is served on board before we disembark and make our way back through Germany to Calais and the mid afternoon shuttle train back to the UK. We return to our home area early evening after a truly memorable pre-Christmas break.
