The Isles of Glencoe Hotel in Ballachulish can be found nestled on the side of Loch Leven. The Highland estate on which the Isles of Glencoe Hotel is set, has two charming harbours and three kilometres of water frontage, offering a sense of space and a variety of magnificent walks right on the doorstep. Hotel facilities includes an indoor heated swimming pool, a bar, restaurant and sauna. Each of the en-suite bedrooms have a TV, hairdryer and tea/coffee making facilities. Although the hotel does not have a lift, ground floor rooms are available upon request.
Saturday From your front door to the waiting Club Class coach for the drive north to Scotland. We spend time for lunch in popular Richmond then cross the Pennines to reach the Scottish border and our overnight hotel, Gretna Hall, arriving with time to settle in before dinner.
SundayWe continue our journey into Scotland passing Glasgow and spending time on the shores of Loch Lomond before we cross lonely Rannoch Moor. Our descent to Glencoe takes us past the foot of the famous Three Sisters Mountains, considered one of the finest views in Britain. We arrive at our holiday home for the next 4 nights, the Isles of Glencoe Hotel, late afternoon. Later we enjoy a relaxed dinner.
Monday Our first excursion takes us south along the shore of Loch Linnhe through the Appins to Oban, known as ‘Gateway to the Isles’. We have time to explore the town with its interesting harbour, obtain lunch and perhaps enjoy a stroll along the promenade before returning to the hotel late afternoon.
TuesdayWe have a leisurely morning with time to enjoy the hotels facilities before we join the coach this afternoon for the drive up to the Glencoe Visitor Centre. This multi award winning centre has a shop offering local products, a café and a viewing platform, as well as telling the story of the infamous massacre of 1692.
Wednesday After breakfast we enjoy a day full of scenic splendour, as we follow the loch road north past Fort William to Spean Bridge, with the Commando Memorial and Fort Augustus, where we take a break. After a short stop we make our way alongside Loch Ness to Invermoriston and then drive along the Glen over Loch Garry before we return to Fort William in time for a late lunch, time to explore and an afternoon visit to the Ben Nevis Distillery before we return to the hotel.
Thursday We bid farewell to our hosts as we make our way to our way south. Our road takes us through Rob Roy Country to Callander and the Trossachs and after taking time for lunch we continue south past Glasgow to our overnight hotel in the Scottish borders.
Friday Departing our overnight hotel, we head south through North Yorkshire to arrive in our home areas late afternoon after a delightful Scottish holiday.
