George Albert Hotel - 3 Star

The George Albert Hotel is a private, family owned hotel, located in the rolling Dorset countryside between the county towns of Yeovil and Dorchester. The purpose built hotel opened in 2010 and has a spa, Jacuzzi, steam room and sauna. The 39 en-suite bedrooms all have a hairdryer, Wi-Fi, a TV, telephone, hairdryer and tea/coffee making facilities. A lift serves all floors.

Your Itinerary:

Day 1

Monday From your front door to the waiting Club Class coach for the leisurely journey south making a stop in Salisbury with its fine medieval Cathedral before continuing on to the welcoming George Albert Hotel, arriving midafternoon with time to settle in before dinner.

Day 2

Tuesday Our first visit for the day is to Birdport and West Bay, famously known as the setting for TV’s ‘Broadchurch’. From here we continue to the historic coastal resort of Lyme Regis, close to the Devon border Lyme Regis is home to the famous Cobb and harbour. After time to explore we return to the hotel with time before dinner.

Day 3

WednesdayWe spend the morning in Dorchester, the county town of Dorset, with its busy weekly market. Forever associated with the author Thomas Hardy we view his cottage in Bockhampton early afternoon we take a drive to nearby Weymouth a noted Georgian resort our drive takes across the causeway to the Isle of Portland for tremendous views of the famous lighthouse and Weymouth Bay before spending the rest of the afternoon in Weymouth.

Day 4

Thursday We drive to Sherborne which is without a doubt one of England’s most beautiful towns with an abundance of medieval buildings, a superb Abbey and two castles. From here we make for Shaftesbury, an ancient hilltop town and famous as the home to cobbled Gold Hill, star of the Hovis adverts.

Day 5

Friday After breakfast we bid farewell to our hosts and head for home. We arrive in our home areas late afternoon after a delightful holiday.
