The family run Lothersdale is situated on the central promenade. All entertainment and attractions are within easy reach. All bedrooms are en-suite include a TV, Wi-Fi and tea/coffee making facilities. A lift serves all floors. The hotel offers live entertainment some evenings and a feature of the sun lounge is the panoramic view of the bay and Lake District Mountains.
Monday Our door to door takes you to the waiting ‘Club Class’ coach for the drive to Morecambe via Skipton and the Yorkshire Dales, arriving late afternoon. On arrival tea, coffee and biscuits will be served whilst our bags are taken up to our rooms. We enjoy time to settle in before dinner this evening.
Tuesday Today’s excursion takes us around Morecambe Bay to the genteel resort of Grange-over-Sands where we take a break and have a chance to look around. From here we make our way to Cark and magnificent Holker Hall and Gardens. One of the great joys of Holker is the garden with its wonderful collection of trees and shrubs, and an exceptional collection of plants. Just a short drive away is the Lakeland Motor Museum, housing some 20,000 exhibits including cars, bikes, tractors and all kinds of memorabilia. The Campbell Legend Bluebird Exhibition pays tribute to the deeds of Sir Malcolm and son Donald with memorabilia from their lives. After an excellent afternoon we make our way back to Morecambe.
Wednesday Travelling through the scenic Lune Valley, we head for the stunning Yorkshire Dales National Park. From Ingleton we climb into the Pennines to the famous viaduct at Ribblehead before we continue across the moors to the thriving community of Hawes, with its antique shops, craftspeople and cafes. Our return journey takes us via the lonely Moorcock Inn and Garsdale Head to Sedbergh, Kirkby Lonsdale and Carnforth to Morecambe.
Thursday A day tour to England’s premier area of outstanding natural beauty, the Lake District. We drive north to Bo’ness to spend time beside the waters of Windermere then climb the rugged Kirkstone Pass, affording outstanding views, to tranquil Ullswater then on to Keswick, a busy market town overlooked by soaring Skiddaw. After free time we return by way of Wordsworth’s beloved Grasmere and Ambleside with its famous bridge house.
Friday After breakfast we bid farewell to our hosts as we make our way home. We enjoy a drive through the Peak District with an extended lunch stop in the busy market town of Bakewell, before arriving back in our home areas late afternoon.
