A hugely successful Irish break last year, it gives us pleasure to revisit Belfast and the Titanic. 2012 saw the opening of the Titanic Belfast Experience, a world class visitor attraction to crown the ship’s centenary celebrations. This dramatic, innovative presentation tells the story of the Titanic from her conception through to her construction and launch, to her maiden voyage and tragic end. We also include tours of two great cities Dublin and Belfast and the magnificent Mountains of Mourne.
Our much acclaimed 4 star country house hotel is situated half way between Belfast and Dublin in the coastal resort of Dundalk. Monday From your front door to the waiting Club Class coach then cross country to Wales and the port at Holyhead for the afternoon sailing to Dublin enjoying the comfort of the club lounge. On disembarkation we drive the short distance to our holiday hotel in Dundalk. Tea & coffee are served upon arrival.
Tuesday Today is the highlight of our tour when we visit Belfast. We include a city tour then visit the ‘Titanic Quarter’ dominated by Samson & Goliath, two huge cranes from the old Harland & Wolff shipyards. The Titanic Experience is fascinating with the story of the ship told through nine galleries with state of the art exhibitions. The story continues into the aftermath of the sinking through to the discovery of the wreck. We visit the huge Dry Dock and Pump House. Later there will be free time in the city before returning to our hotel.
Wednesday A leisurely breakfast before we depart for Dublin’s fair city. We include a city tour upon arrival. Included in the many sights are Trinity College, St Patricks Cathedral, O’Connell Street and time in the famed Guinness Store. Later there will be time for visiting the superb range of shops in O’Connell Street and Grafton Street and the vast number of cafes and bars, each with a special welcoming atmosphere.
Thursday This morning we enjoy a scenic drive around the magnificent granite Mountains of Mourne making a stop in the seaside resort of Newcastle then inland to Newry, a city with a long and distinguished history. Our return to the hotel allows time to relax and explore the extensive leisure facilities.
Friday a leisurely breakfast before our departure from the hotel for the drive to Dublin and the early afternoon sailing to Holyhead. From North Wales we make use of the motorway to return to our home area and waiting taxis, arriving late evening.
