A historic harbour town packed with independent shops, local produce and a great riverside quay. After time here we re-join the coach and return to the hotel for dinner.
Wednesday Our first stop this morning is the picturesque resort of Lynmouth where we have time to delve down the narrow streets and maybe take the cliff railway to the twin village of Lynton. From here we make our way through scenic ‘Little Switzerland’, as the region is known, to the lovely village of Dunster, with its famous castle and octagonal Yarn Market. We have time in the popular seaside resort of Minehead and our return takes us through Exford and the Exmoor National Park.
Thursday After breakfast, we make our way to the Victorian seaside resort of Ilfracombe, known as the jewel in the North Devon Coast. This picturesque harbour town is steeped in maritime history and remains one of the key working fishing ports in North Devon, which is reflected in the local menus. Discover a quaint quayside and harbour, whitewashed villas, lovely beaches, coastal paths and an abundance of cafes and shops, before we return to the hotel for dinner.
FridayWe reluctantly bid farewell to our hosts at the Royal & Fortescue and begin our homeward journey. After stops for refreshments we return to our home area and waiting taxis late afternoon.
